MOFO OF THE WEEK: DON MARIO

Each week, Mofo Squad War Stories will be doing a feature story on one of our Mofo Squad members to get to know a little bit more about them. This week, we hide out deep in the woods and accuse everyone of hacking, with Don Mario.

MSWS: When did you first begin playing the Battlefield series and what was it that caught your interest?

DON MARIO: I think it was early 2003 when I first seen this game in gaming newspaper. Caught my eye, I said to my self " wow nice, better than AMIGA graphic. let me try it". Then the journey start.

Don Mario's first gaming PC, the Amiga

MSWS: What's the story behind the name you chose to use in game?

DON MARIO: It is actually funny story. I want to pick DonMarioBF (BF from beetle Field) however at this time someone already used this nick. I picked "2" as next available and that`s the way stayed. Match very well to BF2, BFBC2:-)

Beetle Field? What's Don Talking about?

MSWS: Which of the current Mofo Squad members, did you first go into battle with?

DON MARIO: Not sure, but I think it was Stealth. After year 2005 I stop playing BF. Then in 2007 Stealth told me that there is special version of BF2 just released and suggest to buy.
I bought and then fun start again..

Stealth

MSWS: What is your favorite kit to play and why?

DON MARIO: Hmmmm. I think everyone hate snipers.. I love sniper kit. You can run and use knife with any gun. With light armor you can just be very efficient. Also sniper keep you back. I save so many team members from being wipe out. especially Jim_Reaper.. But I think he doesn`t know about that.

Jim Reaper loves Snipers

MSWS: Tell us about your all time favorite map in the Battlefield series and why you like it?

DON MARIO: I have actually two maps: BF2 Mashtuur City and BFBC2 Laguna Presa. Very playable maps, very efficient for any kit.

BF2 Mashtuur City

BFBC2 Laguna Presa

MSWS: What weapon, old or new, do you wish you could add to the current BFBC2 game.

DON MARIO: AN-94 with 4x scope. You can snipe with this baby. Dice messed up physics for AN-94 bullets so you can kill you enemy from other end of the map. Then you will just see in chat log" What the F****? I`m dead? Where the F888 is this guy!"

AN-94

MSWS: What's your favorite pin you hope to see in the personal stats at the end of a game round?

DON MARIO: None, I don`t watch on pins. Just fun. do they have one for that? Bad ass fun pin?

Bad Ass Fun Pin - Just for you Don Mario!

MSWS: From what you have seen of the BF3 previews, what are you looking forward to the most with the new release later this year?

DON MARIO: Not at all until patch  # 1.xxxx billion will be released and all has fixed. Dice always f*** something, give more power to hackers that server admins. I will wait until they bleed them self..

BLEED DICE!
BLEEEEEEED!!!

MSWS: What helpful tip would you give someone to help them improve their game play.

DON MARIO: Stop playing for two weeks, then go back to playing, take 3 shoots of vodka, one red bull and enjoy the ride.

Get your game on!

MSWS: Do you have a favorite moment or funny experience in Battlefield you would like to share?

DON MARIO: Yes, when Jim got upset after Stealth stab him 5 times:-) Jim is always positive guy. but this day was an exception. He get really piss off:-)

Stay positive, no exceptions!

MOFO OF THE WEEK: LOKEN

Each week, Mofo Squad War Stories will be doing a feature story on one of our Mofo Squad members to get to know a little bit more about them. This week, we go "STARBORD, PORT, BOW, STERN, ON THE HILL, AND IN THE QUAD" with human compass and king of the F-bombs, Loken.

MSWS: When did you first begin playing the Battlefield series and what was it that caught your interest?

LOKEN: My wargaming buddies were going to a gaming bar to play this game they said was awesome.  I didn't want to go because I didn't need to get dragged into something that would take up a lot of time (I can be compulsive about my passions).  I went anyway and we played Battlefield 2 for 3 hours and I laughed my ass off the whole time.  I then bought a computer the next week and that was 2006.  I love the team play.  And of course, in BF2 I loved being in command.  Just the general in me!  I really miss that in BFBC2.

MSWS: What's the story behind the name you chose to use in game?

LOKEN: Linnear was my first name on BF2 and that is from a series of books by Eric Lustbader (Who now writes the Bourne books since Robert Ludlam died).  I love those books and have read them 3-4 times each.  The character's name was Nicholas Linnear.  In BFBC2 I changed it to Loken, which is for Garviel Loken, the protagonist in the Warhammer "Hours Heresy" series of books that is all the rage for players of Warhammer 40,000, which is a miniature wargame.

Garviel Loken

MSWS: Which of the current Mofo Squad members, did you first go into battle with?

LOKEN: Well, I can't remember, other than I specifically remember where I was on Operation Harvest when Stealth, Thrasher and Jim asked me to join their clan.  We had played together from time to time before that.

MSWS: What is your favorite kit to play and why?

LOKEN: In BF2 it was Special Forces as I was a C4 whore.  I was the team specialist at blowing up tanks with C4.  A lot of that is just the fun of being reckless and running at tanks with nothing but some silly putty.  In BFBC2 I think it is Assault.  I like the ability to use the grenade launcher or the 40mm shotgun, which is a blast.

MSWS: Tell us about your all time favorite map in the Battlefield series and why you like it?

LOKEN: Has to be Operation Harvest.  I love how wide open that map is.  And Karkand.  I spent DAYS on that server. In BFBC2 it is White Pass.  I love the snow!

BF2 Armored Fury - Operation Harvest

MSWS: What weapon, old or new, do you wish you could add to the current BFBC2 game.

LOKEN: Well all the new weapons are pretty damn good.  I think I miss the ability to just get more ammo or health by running over a pack.  I DO NOT miss Claymores.  They were a pain in the ass.

Claymore = Pain in the @$$

MSWS: What's your favorite pin you hope to see in the personal stats at the end of a game round?

LOKEN: Oh Knife kills for sure!  I love knifing Snipers the best.  It is always nice when I can steal an ace pin from Jim too!

MSWS: From what you have seen of the BF3 previews, what are you looking forward to the most with the new release later this year?

LOKEN: KARKAND!!!!

BF3 - Back To Karkand

MSWS: What helpful tip would you give someone to help them improve their game play.

LOKEN: Learn to switch between weapon's fast.  And learn not to go running into a room while reloading!

MSWS: Do you have a favorite moment or funny experience in Battlefield you would like to share?

LOKEN: I think it was when Maddmaxx got run over by a tank while teabagging me.  Serves you right bitch!

BACK WHERE WE STARTED

After a brief experiment in Dallas, Stealth decided it was time to bring the MOFO Conquest Server back home to Seattle. Here's a brief recap of yesterday's server activity…

KEY EVENTS:

1) With Stealth's persistents and dedication, the MOFO server was back on line from Seattle showing signs of life again.

2) Further efforts by Stealth resulted in the addition of the lovely Sheridyn to the banner graphic, drawing quite the crowd and instantly filling the MOFO server to its capacity.

3) After a few exciting hours of gaming the MOFO server quickly emptied out, right around the same time Loken launched several F-bombs and base rape accusations.

MOFO OF THE WEEK: JIM REAPER

Over the next several weeks, Mofo Squad War Stories will be doing a feature story on one of our Mofo Squad members to get to know a little bit more about them. This week, we get "IN YO FAAAAACE" with ace pin magnet, Jim Reaper.

MSWS: When did you first begin playing the Battlefield series and what was it that caught your interest?

JIM REAPER: I started playing Battlefield 1942 around 2003.  I saw a commercial for the game and noticed is had won a lot of awards.  I've always liked WWII era weapons.

MSWS: What's the story behind the name you chose to use in game?

JIM REAPER: Jim_Reaper is just a play on Grim Reaper.  I liked the idea of taking an intimidating name and making it funny.  The best part of my name is when Loken eventually realized that my real name isn't "Jim" after about 6 years of playing together...lol!  The only other name I've used for Battlefield was "gooklear_weapon" for Vietnam.

MSWS: Which of the current Mofo Squad members, did you first go into battle with?

JIM REAPER: I started playing against and then eventually with Stealth and Thrasher.  At the time I was almost exclusively a lone wolf type player.  While I was pretty proficient at hunting and killing other players, Stealth and Thrasher showed me the benefit of playing in a squad. It's funny looking back since I'm all about squad play now, but I was pretty oblivious to the whole concept until I started playing with Stealth and Thrasher.

MSWS: What is your favorite kit to play and why?

JIM REAPER: In BFBC2 it's Medic, mostly due to the fact that overall it has the best guns and it helps that you can revive players at flags after the dust settles to get a quick numbers advantage.  Although you didn't ask, I'll go ahead and volunteer that my most hated kit is Recon, mostly due to those homosexual snipers (notice how I cleaned up my language?)   : )

IN YO FAAAAACE!

MSWS: Tell us about your all time favorite map in the Battlefield series and why you like it?

JIM REAPER: Daymn.... this is a tough one.  I will start out by saying that the maps in BF 1942 as a while were far superior to any of the other games.  They have gotten progressively worse with some doozies like Dragon Valley, Heavy Metal, Port Valdez, Clean Sweep and Taraba Quarry.  But my all time favorite is between Jalalabad and Karkand with the slight edge going to Jalalabad.  It just has a perfect mix of vehicles to urban fighting.  The flag locations and also set in a way that makes it hard for one team to hold all the flags.  You can jump into a Jalalabad game with your team having no flags and turn it around and win easily.  Other great maps, Warlord, Harvest (BF2), Mashtuur, Sharqi and all 1942 maps.

Map of Road to Jalalabad

MSWS: What weapon, old or new, do you wish you could add to the current BFBC2 game.

JIM REAPER: FAMAS.. enough said.

FAMAS

MSWS: What's your favorite pin you hope to see in the personal stats at the end of a game round?

JIM REAPER: I guess the Ace pin, with the Nemesis a close second.

MSWS: From what you have seen of the BF3 previews, what are you looking forward to the most with the new release later this year?

JIM REAPER: A game that's optimized for the PC.  Even better graphics.  A game that's closer to BF2 than BFBC.

MSWS: What helpful tip would you give someone to help them improve their game play.

JIM REAPER: Stick with the squad, select a helpful kit and play your kit the way it's supposed to be played.  BFBC2 is a blood bath, just accept it.  Don't focus on kill/death and worry more about taking flags, helping your squad and winning.  The kills will come.

MSWS: Do you have a favorite moment or funny experience in Battlefield you would like to share?

JIM REAPER: Some of my favorites:

- Stealth getting warned for solicitation..lol!

- While in a full jeep in BF2, Loken bitches, then asks who's driving and it turn out to be him.

- Loken not being able to see the enormous "YOUR NEMISIS" header for several months.

- Madd sacrificing himself by driving a jeep loaded with explosives into a tank we spotted (this happened many times)

- There was this one time that DonMario accused someone of hacking... I'll never forget it.
